Christian Slater (born August 18, 1969) is an American actor who has starred in films such as Heathers, Kuffs, True Romance and He Was a Quiet Man.

Slater was born Christian Michael Leonard Slater in New York City, the son of Mary Jo Slater, a casting executive, and Michael Hawkins, né Thomas Knight Slater, an actor who is also known as Michael Gainsborough. Slater has a maternal half-brother, Ryan, who is also an actor. Slater attended the Dalton School, the Professional Children's School and the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

He has been erroneously thought to be related to Helen Slater. In addition to their shared professional surname, the myth is further fueled by their portrayal of sister and brother in The Legend of Billie Jean. Additionally, the DVD of Supergirl, featuring Helen Slater, included a critic's review which wrongly stated she is his sister.

Following a run on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, he made his Broadway debut as the lisping Winthrop Paroo opposite Dick Van Dyke in the 1980 revival of The Music Man. Additional Broadway credits include Copperfield, Merlin, Macbeth, Side Man, and The Glass Menagerie. He made his big screen debut in 1985 in the film The Legend of Billie Jean. He had significant roles in the 1986 mystery film The Name of the Rose, the 1989 dark comedy Heathers, and the 1990 teen film Pump Up the Volume. His most notable roles from the '90s include the role of outlaws "Dirty" Dave Rudabaugh in Young Guns II in 1990 and Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991, Elvis-obsessed Clarence Worley in True Romance in 1993, reporter Daniel Molloy in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles in 1994 and Air Force pilot Riley Hale in Broken Arrow in 1996. In 2006, he appeared as the main character in Hollow Man 2, replacing Kevin Bacon in the starring role, the sequel to Paul Verhoeven's Hollow Man (2000), and also appeared in the 2007 film He Was a Quiet Man. Slater made a cameo in the Joaquin Phoenix directed video "Tired of Being Sorry" for Balthazar Getty's band Ringside.

In recent years, Slater has gone from being a box-office leading man to starring in direct-to-video films and other low-budget projects. In 2004 he returned to the stage, playing Randle P. McMurphy in the play One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the Edinburgh Fringe. He twice contracted chicken pox, delaying the show's opening. While continuing to appear in this play in London's West End, Slater was asked to play the role of John Watson aka Wonko the Sane for the BBC Radio 4 adaptation of So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish, produced by Above the Title Productions. In 2005 and 2006 Slater returned to the stage and London to play McMurphy in Cuckoo's Nest. Slater is the advertising voice of Panasonic on radio and television ads.

On January 20, 2006, Slater was the guest host for an episode in the second series of The Friday Night Project for Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. He appeared in the booth of Monday Night Football on November 6, 2006 for the Oakland Raiders at a Seattle Seahawks game.

From October 5, 2007, until January 19, 2008, Slater stared as Buddy Ackerman in the West End production Swimming with Sharks at Vaudeville Theatre, London. A remake of the 1994 film starring Kevin Spacey, the play saw Slater star alongside Helen Baxendale.

Slater is starring in a spy drama titled My Own Worst Enemy, airing in the 2008-2009 season on NBC.

He splits his time among New York City, Los Angeles and London. He is divorced from Ryan Haddon.

I've loved this guy since I first saw him in Heathers, which kinda waned a bit after I saw Gleaming the Cube but I didn't entirely lose the fandom there. Even if he did kinda come across as a mini·me version of Jack Nicholson...there's a lot more to him going on in that wacky little head of his. I've seen him dark, I've seen him creepy, I've seen him funny, and I've seen him disturbingly normal...

...and I can't wait to see what he'll be like next.

These are a variation of the rules I setup for Free Porn the SequelHouse·of·Skin, and kinda sorta Art by InkComix too in a very unofficial capacity:
  • This is not a photo community by design. I suspect fans of this celebrity will want to post images or icons or any other number of visual mediums and that's okay with me. Just be aware that there will be posts here that have no pictures in them at all going in. You can complain about it if you like...but it probably won't do any good.

  • Be you male or female or something else, it's a funny old world, one thing that a good number of us fans have in common is a desire to see our idols naked. I, being male, understandably do not have a problem with this. This community is not specifically about naked shots of the celebrity in question...but if you happen to have access to some and want to post them you do what you feel is best.

  • The friends filter (Clicky!) option is your friend! This community is, potentially, not work safe so it's best that if you're a member you don't view your friendslist as a whole depending on where you are. Got a complaint from a guy once because his kid sister was in the room and she almost saw something. You really shouldn't be viewing this community around little kids! Also not at work, in church, at the busstop, or while operating heavy equipment (No that does not count as heavy equipment!)

  • It is tricky for me to make sure you're all above age, I lead a quirky life, and I'm thinking on suggesting with the next upgrade the tech folks of LJ include birthdays in a directory search. Every couple months I'll go through the member list if I'm not at work and I've got a few hours to kill but so far I've only had to remove accounts that have been deleted for whatever reason. To be on the safe side, even though the system has no way of confirming this, have your birthdate and year listed on your user info. I may not check very often but I do check every so often.

  • We're not big on the use of LJ·cuts here so long as you're posting single images. If you're posting multiples you need to use an LJ·cut. If you're posting an image and a video you need an LJ·cut for one of them. The only real way around this is if you're using thumbnail images. If you don't know what those are then don't worry about it. Images do not necessarily need to be behind an LJ·cut unless there's more than one or the one is excessively huge; best guideline there is that up and down big is okay but left to right big is bad...nothing wider than 600 pixels is a good guideline.

  • Try to be polite...you would not believe the number of complaints about comments that are taken to be insults but may've been critiques that could've been phrased better. Any outright and clear abuse of another member and you're outta here. It's okay to criticize, and flirt to whatever point the person posting doesn't mind, but let's try to keep stuff from getting harsh. We're just trying to have a good time and appreciate what's being shown.

  • There are members here who periodically post images from their pay sites they have access to. If you see something you like but can't see the rest of the gallery it came from you shouldn't complain about it; enjoy what you get. If you like it that much then maybe you should become a paying member of whoever's site it came from.

  • The moderator (that's me) has the end say about what posts stay and what posts go. I've periodically deleted stuff I thought was innapproriate...though not that often. I don't warn folks either...stuff just goes away.

If you want to advertise any kind of community please do so at Livejournal OverdoseWe·Need·a·Life and not here. I used to allow advertising in any of my communities if it kept to the theme of that community but I'd like to cut down on that a bit...until it dwindles to nothing.
